Default 34 days and $8,000 later ...

I finally have my car back. Although it just feels "defective" somehow, I must say that the body shop did an excellent job. I'm certain that nobody other than me will ever be able to tell it was in an accident.

One major problem is that the factory apparently shipped a defective headlight, as the inside was all fogged up when I went to pick up the car and there is clearly a good deal of condensation inside. I've seen posts where people have claimed this is "normal", but the body shop already ordered me a new one and it will be in tomorrow.

The only other "issue" I have is that the lower front panel does not line up properly with the quarter panel. I"m not sure if the pictures capture what I'm trying to say, and I'm sure they can fix this in 30 seconds when I bring it back. To their credit, the body shop encouraged me to take it home and examine it and bring it back with any issues or concerns that I have.

I haven't had time to get fully re-aquainted yet, but plan on taking a nice long ride tomorrow. The brakes felt a bit "squishy", but that's probably because the car has been sitting for over a month.

Anyway, it's good to be "back".

Default The after pictures look really good...

even the detail shot on the panel doesn't look bad...it looks to me like not more than .5mm off from how it ships from the factory, but if you're paying $8,000 for body work, no reason it shouldn't come out perfect, right?

Default Two weeks?

Honestly, the delay in my case was just that they were very busy. They gave me an estimate of three weeks initially, but called me diligently to advise me that they weren't going to hit that target. They even picked up the extra on the rental car that my insurance stopped covering after the initial three weeks.

Default Re: Two weeks?

you damage to the underneath of the car was probably more significant... but somehow i feel like 2 weeks isnt gonnna happen...

althought they aren't having me bring in the car until monday (so ive been driving around for 2 weeks because they were fairly busy) hopefully me waiting and driving around with the car damaged has saved some time at the shop as they hopefully aren't as busy now...

Default yeah...if they said they wanted you to not bring the car in for 2 weeks

it probably means that they've slotted you in to get it in and out asap

or at least, that's how the shop i go to works (but then again, I've never had a 2 week wait to get fit in - i've had to wait 2 weeks while they worked on it and waited for parts, though)

Default yeah i just hope it doesnt take forever...

my ecodes shipped today and im gonna swap bulbs... and bring those back to them...

and they are taking care of the rest...

but that 2 weeks was quoted before my car got keyed on 3 panels so that might add in some extra time (but hopefully not)

Default looks good!

body shops,(good ones) can do a pretty amazing job sometimes... as for that quarter panel offset, it appears to be very minor. My car has that on both sides and it hasn't been involved any such serious accidents!
