Default looks great! I'm a fan of the 6000K myself. Been running them in my S4 for a while now

and I like the look better than 4300/4500K lights. Visibility hasn't been affected for me either.

Default 20W

since we're using a fixed 12V system, obviously the 55W setup draws quite a bit more current

Default Very nice. Thanks for taking the time to snap pix in the cold. I appreciate it!

That light output is exactly what I'm looking for. I was contemplating the OEM route but you can't deny how bright + crisp that is. Looks like the wattage increase does lower the color temp a bit... that looks like 5k to 5300k-ish.

Those are OEM housings, correct?

Default Are the HID burners and ballasts rated at 55 watts, or just the ballasts or lamps?

That is, are the lamps rated at 55 watts, driven by OEM 35 watt ballasts, or the oppisite?
D2S or D1S? AFAIK, there are 50 watt HID D2S lamps made by Philips, I have never heard of a 55 watt rating.

Default The output shown in the pics looks good, I like it. ...

I have been wondering about upgrading with a 50 watt D2S setup. The newer D4S lamps have higher lumens output (~3800 lumens) at a higher color temperature(~5800K) compared to D2S lamps, and don't have any Hg inside. However, the D4 lamps need a D4 ballast. (The D4 lamp voltage is 50% of D2 at about ~45 volts compared to D2 at 85 volts, and the D4 lamp ballast load current is 200% of the D2 lamp.)

Default that could fry the system with lower volts and higher watts, i went 55w from halogen

because the amperage load is still lower with HIDs than halogens.

but i'm not exactly sure how does post ballast voltage translate to pre ballast current and voltage
