Default 7 Audi's stolen this week where i live, trying to find something to make it harder to steal mine.

So the previous week there were 7 new Audi's stolen over here 6 of them where A4's B6 and B7 and 1 A8.

So since i am a A4 owner i am starting to be a bit worried i might be next(good thing i got a good insurance which would cover the cost in that case).

but i rather not have it stolen, since a new one will cost me any way(specialy if it got more then 136 HP stock, the current one 190HP costed me 2000 USD which go to the goverment sucking me dry.

so i was thinking if its possible to add something which is required to be done before you can start the car.
Like a hidden button or something which you need to push before you can start the engine.

probably impossible to do but worth checking out ya never know.

and yeah i can add a decent alarm, but since some of them had a good car alarm and still got stolen i am not really sure if it would help.

Default "a hidden button or something which you need to push before you can start the engine" - have you

been watching 'The Transporter'? The scenes where he has to punch in the ignition code to get the car started ;-)

Do you have LoJack in the UK? That I heard is good. Do the cars in the UK have the immobilizer? Maybe that will help but honestly if they know what they are doing there isn't too much you can do to stop them. Well actually you can attach this to your car...

Default you mean like an immobilizer

which has a transponder in the key and a reader coil in the ignition cylinder... which is controlled by a "gateway" in the instrument cluster which identifies each key by unique transponders.

I know 3 scenarios which defeat an immobilizer system.

1. Dealership involvement: an extra key was cut & programmed at the last dealer vist. Thus your car was pre-selected for being stolen.

2. flat bed need I say more.

3. owner leaves key in car, lifty shifty person breaks in... finds key and starts their new car.

Default 1) A trained Python...or, 2) Explosive bolts... :-D ... (more)...

The Python would, of course, be 'car broken'.

The explosive bolts must be similar to the effect of a a neutron bomb, they would only
take out the interloper... and not your car's interior.

My serious answer: There is actually nothing you can do to stop your car from being stolen. If someone wants it enough they will get it.

The only real deterrent is 'out of sight, out of mind'... So...

...Hide it (well) !!!

Default i live in Belgium, no trunk moneys over here :P(gotta love that one)..

and yeah true i got the idea thanks to the transporter.
but i wouldnt go as far as a code entering.
just something along the lines of a simple button(like the RS4 start button) somewhere hidden.

i figure it was worth a shot to ask, there are some people out there who can do anything.

the thing is the cars where just stolen, owners still had their keys.
a flatbed was not used either.
they claim the just drove off with the car, so a key copy was made or something new is going on which makes it easy to steal.
the cars did not all come from the same dealer so go figure what the link is ..

Default if you bring your own instrument cluster and ECM it might be possible

but that could take a while seeing that the ecm should be held down by some sheer bolts and the cluster could be a bit annoying to change... all of this would take a few mins to change out and lifty shifty types dont like being vulnerable for that long.
