Default 80,000 mile service?

How do you know if you should change your timing belt? Called up to schedule my 80,000 mile service and they recommended that I will need two days as I should change my timing belt as well? They did not even look at the car. When should one change their timing belt? Is it normal at 80,000 or can I go longer without changing it? Any advice would be appreciated.

Many times you will not have warning if it goes. Best to change it now.

A lot of Audi enthusiasts change as early as 60k. Belts can break without warning costing you big $

Default I think you are living on borrowed time, too!

If your belt breaks on you, the cost will make you soil yourself!

Just my $0.02.

Does this apply to 3.0 owners as well?

Default Re: Do you have. . .

A 6 YEAR 100K WARRANTY? Are you still covered? If so wait until you are off warranty and then get it done ASAP. Mine went 90k before I changed it myself, but I was just outside the 6 year window.

Default From what I've seen of the 3.0 belt system no.

It appears to be more robust than the 1.8t stuff.
