The Audi ended up bein about $1000 less with more options. Better in the snow, more power, bigger car especially big seat, much better interior, etc. Test drive both, you'll buy the audi. Although the BMW does handle well.

It's really not a contest. The fact that you're considering a car with a lot less power, inferior AWD, less options, no sport suspension, etc, for the same price as the A4 3.0 shows that you're just a little bit brainwashed by the BMW marketing machine. If you examine the cars for what they are, the 3.0 is the clear winner.

You get more (I feel, a lot more) for less with the Audi. Interior lux level is unmatched at this price range. A4 will outperform the 325xi in dry & wet. 3-series will be redesigned soon, expect the B6 A4 look to be fresh longer. People are always telling me the love the way my A4 looks; I don't think they're telling that to the 3-series folks anymore. Just too many of them around.
Would recommend you get the sport package 3.0 and have them put on all-season tires vs the summer ones they may come with. If you get any snow where you live, do NOT get use summer performance tires in winter.
Re: G35. I think this is a great bargain but again no stick. Also feel the interior quality & overall feel is cheaper than the A4.
Before buying an X3, be sure to read the recent Car & Driver review of it. They hated it, from what I recall.
What about a Volvo S60 AWD? Dunno if you can get that with the T5, but if you got an S60-R, now that's one fierce car. Of course, then you're in 330i territory, in which case you may as well pony up a little more & get an S4.
So there's your answer. 2004 S4 is what you need. Never follow.
