apart from wiring the postive from the battery, and short cabling the negative. how do i get a line level input to my amp, by doing minimum damage so i can return to stock quickly in case car needs warranty work. PS in UK, Audi are arsy about any warranty work!

it sounds like your trying to put in a new amp. im not sure the post is a little confusing...
if you are all you have to do to get a signal to a new amp in the trunk is pop off the plastic cover behind the rear seats so the subwoofer is exposed...take some speaker wire and just run it right off the pos and neg. from there and run it down to the trunk. there are some small holes you can put the wire through...now if your new amp has a High low input you can use that...but it is easiest to get a Line output converter...you can get one from www.caraudiexpert.com for about 12.99$
