About two weeks ago I traded in my '97 Acura Integra GS-R for an '02 A4 3.0 Quattro 6-spd. After driving the acura for about 3 years I can say that it would be a close race as far as a traight line goes. In the curves, it doesn't even come CLOSE to the A4 Quattro. My Integra GS-R wasn't rattly but it was extremely lacking in a lot of things that I see now in the A4. The comfort, trunk room, handling, low-end torque, looks, etc. I still think Honda makes excellent cars, I can even say they might be the most reliable on the planet, I just wanted to try something new. I was going after an S4 but after seeing the difficulties in getting one and other factors such as the old body style, etc I was hooked on the new A4 and figured I could upgrade it to S4 performance(i hope) with the money I saved, once the afermarket parts started coming out.

I think Honda is king as far as squeezing horsepower(not torque) out of small engines goes. The new S2000 proves that. However, in the real-world, we all need some low-end torque and some comfort because unfortunately we don't live in a race track. That's also what tipped me over to the A4 over the S2000 which I was considering.

The S2000 was extremely noisy above 55mph, both from wind and engine noise. Couldn't squeeze anything more than a back pack and a (small) girlfriend. No heated seats, no CD-changer, not even the steering column is adjustable! Sure it's a freaking race car, but I couldn't even begin to imagine what I would do on a snowy day. Every time I think about that, I beleive I made the right choice...and I like my A4 more every time I drive it. Now if it turns out to be nearly as reliable as my previous hondas, Audi will have my business for a loooong time. Long live the four rings! <g>

Sorry for the long rant. =)

Default who doesn't buy a car to go from point A to point B?!

if you're going anywhere, you're going from A to B. The reason people buy nice cars is so going from A to B is a little more fun. However, I don't see the point of people racing from A to B or any portion of their journey. You endanger other people's lives and other people's cars. I didn't work this hard in life just to have it ended by some jerk trying to show off how cool his parent bought car is. If you like to race...DO IT ON A RACE TRACK.
I've had too many close calls with retards racing on freeways. It's not even funny for me to joke about it. My area has had like 3 or 4 high speed police chases in the last month or so ...all resulting (i think) in some completely innocent person(s) getting hit and dying...including a couple celebrating their anniversary. Okay..these weren't people racing...but it was super high speed driving...

dennisA4...i got the feeling you were kidding with your comment....but i hope you understand where i'm coming from. our A4's are fun to drive, but that doesn't mean we have the right to endanger others with our fun.

Default I was half kidding. A little exaggeration.

I agree that it's dangerous. I think that's half the draw. I don't race, not often anyway.
But what I hate more than anything else is a lecture. Especially on an internet forum.
I'm sorry people died. It happens every day. If you are scared for your life, or of just scratching your car, stay home. But that's no way to live, is it.? Loosen up, and stop worrying about what everyone else is doing. I'm going to enjoy my car. I worked my *** off for it.

Gymshoe, why dont you just shut the hell up. I'm sorry you feel strongly about it. But, people who race on highways, normally just end up dying themselves, and most of the time they have some clue of what they are doing. I've raced my A4 on the highway plenty of times, many times kicking peoples asses. But, I know what I'm doing. I know how people react, and I definitily have quick enough reflexes to react to something that is possibly dangerous.
