Adding coolant - can I do it this way?
My coolant is just a tax low so I bought some g12 coolant to add in.
I should mix it 50/50 or 60/40 is what the vw guy told me.
Can I do this by taking 2 plastic cups, filling both up to the same level, then adding them together into one big cup and pour it in?

coolant mixture is not the most exact science..
if you'd like to be precise (or you need to refill a lot) you can do it the way you suggested. i had a leak for a while and i always just eye-balled a 50/50 mix (occassionally i'd even just top off with water if i didn't have coolant handy).
this is fine depending on the temps where you live, and how much needs to be added to your tank. water actually has better cooling properties than the coolant, but the coolant acts as an anti-freeze so if you live in sub-freezing temps you'd need more of it.

Too much water dillutes the anti-corrosives. Get a $1 Hygrometer or a fancy Refractometre to test it
60% is max, 50% is minimum. Pretty hard to measure accurately by filling vessels, except maybe a full fill. Once you add pure water, it throws it off, won't hurt it or anything, but I like to use 50/50% premix coolant anymore. It's worth the extra few bucks, plus they do use a high grade of water mixed in. You want no more than 50% unless you see -30f.
