Default Adding extra cig. lighter socket in glove box. HELP!

I'm trying to install an extra cigarette lighter socket in my glove box. The purpose is to power my Ipod. I ran pos. wire from the socket to the back of the fuse box and piggy backed to fuse # 17 (labeled Navigation - 2001.5 A4) and the neg. ground wire to the chasis/frame. After taping everything down, I tried to plug the fuse back to #17, and it started to spark and the fuse blew. Can someone tell me where is a good location to use? I want a switched power connection, so that when the car is not running, the socket is not live. Thanks

Pull the drivers side knee bolster and tap the terminal labelled 75x. You *must* use an inline fuse
