did a search regarding how to increase alarm volume - the fiance said he was in my car the other day and when he opened the door, he noticed that my 2003 A4 3.0 Quattro had such a low sounding alarm.
i did a search and only came across aftermarket alarms and something about charging the battery.
can someone explain the charging the battery or another way to increase the volume? thanks.

and after several years, the internal battery looses the capacity to produce current and voltage when under load. The aged battery also looses it's capacity to accept additional recharging.
Edit:The result is reduced battery output and less power to the alarm horn transducer responsible for sounding the alarm. The internal alarm horn battery, is normally maintained/charged by the vehicle main electrical system from the car's main engine starting battery located in the plenum under the right side of the windshield.
The fix requires replacement of the alarm horn unit.
Typically, the alarm horn intermittently starts to beep three or more times when the car is started in the morning, when the internal alarm horn battery is beyond it's service life. So maybe the alarm horn battery is still OK in your car, and the assumption that the alarm horn volume is below normal is not correct?
