Default IMO, bad advise, for brake lines...

If your gonna be cheap, your vehicles brakes is not the place to start!

Dont let the DOT approval fool ya!

Its not all its cracked up to be, and lines can vary greatly from fabricator-2-fabricator

From owning several different brake lines over the years, to date, the StopTech's are by far a superior brake line than nearly any others out there!

They have an outer protective sleeve, and protection at the swedge connection, where most aftermarket stainless-teflon brakes lines fail.

https://forums.audiworld.com/9080/msgs/364559.phtml</a

Default I have StopTechs and ALL of outer shields cracked at the caliper ends...

The black plastic boot that is supposed to provide a strain-relief cracks axially, and then the line bends right as it exits the fitting. The outer shield cracks right where it bends. I actually had StopTech replace the front lines on my car for this reason just last year - I was just bleeding the brakes the other day and noticed they had both cracked again.

To me the lines are not long enough and they get strained when at the extremes of the suspension travel (I am lowered on H+R sport springs with Bilstein shocks). I asked StopTech about getting slightly longer lines and it was a no-can-do. I have not noticed any wear or breakdown of the braid itself, but I am keeping a close eye on this. I think if I ever replace the lines I'll just go back to the stock ones. As Bronze said - I noticed no difference in pedal feel between stock and SS.

If you're using ss lines, it's highy advisable to get them checked every once of a while.

Default I do check them - but the failure of the outer shield so early (less than 1 year old) is not right

For the extra cost and advertised durability of the SS lines I would expect to get a lot more life out of them. I'm completely dissapointed in them and like I said, I'll probably go back to stock lines when these wear out.

I just wanted to let everyone know that having the outer shield does not mean you can ignore inspecting your lines and does not guarantee a more durable line.

Are they used? if so, then I'd replace them, but I don't know if S4 lines are better than A4 ones.
