Hmm.. I wonder if this is also the reason the LED tails blow out..

Default Wiring diagram is here

Here is an install diagram Fernando was kind enough to draw up for me for his install

Default If you want to DIY the info is here

Based on the pinout of the regulator (pin 1 = input, 2 = ground, 3 = output), you'd connect pin 1 to the power source, 2 to ground, and the LED between pins 2 and 3, right? The LED is designed for 12V I assume, or else you'd need a resistor in series with the circuit, or a lower-voltage regulator.

Looking at the pics, is the 220 ohm resistor connected between pins 2 and 3 of the regulator? So it's in parallel with the LED? Is this to provide a load to prevent "bulb out" warnings? The LED itself doesn't provide enough load? A 220 ohm resistor at 12 volts will draw about 55 milliamps (0.6 watts), so a 1 watt resistor is adequate.

The only thing I might suggest is a capacitor in the circuit to absorb noise/spikes; this will increase the life of the regulator and LED. A 470uf 25V electrolytic would be perfect. Also, a diode inline on the supply side can protect you from frying things by connecting it backwards by mistake.
I don't have a diagram as I just wired it up from memory but your description above is accurate.

If you look at the picture output (LED side) is on the left, input is on the right.

<img src="http://members.shaw.ca/myaudi4/IMG_2191.JPG">

Pin 1 (far left hand side of the regulator) is positive input
Pin 2 is ground
Pin 3 is regulated output

The 220ohm resistor is wired across the output side of pins 2 and 3 to act as the load equalizer. So if there is no bulb in the socket there will be no bulb out error on your DIS.

The LEDs I have recommended in all my threads are all for 12VDC application.

I would have added a capacitor but I wanted to keep the circuit as simple as possible but the addition of it certainly would help as you described.

Thanks for the tips.

Default Awesome, glad I tracked this. Are you using UBA96W?

The link below is all of Ultraleds.com's H6W bulbs. BTW, what's the new set of wheels?<ul><li><a href="http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/default.php?cPath=44_57">http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/default.php?cPath=44_57</a</li></ul>

Default That is not the correct bulb.

You want the UH6WW+ H6W BAX9 - 9mm BC 6 Leds White Offset Pins (Pair)Wide Angle bulbs.

The BAX9 socket is what you want, not the BA9 one.

And once my wheels are shipped then I'll let everyone know what I'll be rolling on. =)<ul><li><a href="http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=44_57&amp;products_id=1186& amp;osCsid=06fd23aa61ef1ce0007b637e99902d6e">http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=44_57&amp;products_id=1186& amp;osCsid=06fd23aa61ef1ce0007b637

You can still use the BA9 bulb but you just have to grind/cut off one of the locking pins

Default Paging MC Hammered - How is the LED regulator solution going so far?

Those that either DIY or purchases a pair how have your LED city lights been running so far?

I am looking to buy a pair from you (MC Hammered) if they're keeping those LED's on and running stable.

thank in advance!
