Allroad, S4 Avant or...Volvo

I've had it since June and it's exceeded my expectations. I've never owned a Volvo before and am not a Volvo "zealot". I traded in an MDX and didn't want an SUV and needed to haul stuff and dogs. The cargo area is large and versatile and the car comes with a slick cargo divider that's built in to the rear seats to keep the dogs at bay. Volvo also offers a ton of accessories for cargo hauling and protection as well as a bunch of roof rack add-ons. You can also get Navi and you get an integrated CDMA cell phone when you order On Call Plus (OnStar). The interior size and performance are comperable to the S6 Avant but it's a lot less money. BTW, don't order the automatic. The ECU does strange things to retard the engine to protect the transmission. The auto 0-60 is 2 seconds more than the 6-speed. Ground clearance is kind of low so it's designed for city driving not the rugged outdoors. It's been been great this winter in deep snow and on bad ice and with Vredestein's on it. I liked the S4 Avant but thought it was too small inside and a bit pricey for the narrow improvement in performance. I'd have gotten the S4 though if I needed an automatic.

I can't do any Audi products for my family vehicle - 2 adults, 3 kids (14, 12, 7) and dog (55 lbs) = minivan... But perhaps Honda Pilot....

Haldex II setup on the Volvo Rs is not inferior by any means. It is the only AWD system around that distributes power based on acceleration in addition to wheelslip. Integrated with the active chassis' sensors it is also the only car that understeers entering a corner, is neutral at an apex, and oversteers on exit.
The Torsen diff. is a proven workhorse but it has been surpassed when it comes to performance aspects (hence the reason Audi is looking at alternatives.) I suspect the new Dana/Getrag operation's new secret customer (as opposed to their publicly known customer/partner Volvo) is Audi but I could be wrong as it's only a guess at this point. Time will tell...
Thanks.

Factory Service Manuals.. Excellent ones too.
Can't get them for new Volvos. Can't read any fault codes without paying the dealer either. Even if you had a Volvo "vag tool" it woudl be useless because they won't publish the codes.
