quite nimble. Hopefully the next generation GTIs that are currently appearing in Europe will bring back some of the attitude.

You should get a used 04, which still comes with the LSD. You can probably find them in the range of 16-18k more or less depending on mileage, which shouldnt be too high considering its still pretty new. Also, they might already have some mods on there, and i'd doubt you'd keep that car stock anyway. I'm thinking of picking one of those up myself. Check the classifieds at srtforums.com

I just traded in my A4 for 2004.5 Jetta GLI. It's a very nice car. It has a way better interior than the SRT-4 and a good looking exterior with the 18" BBS wheels and the factory body kit. It also has Recaro seats and 6-speed manual. Yes, it's not as fast as the SRT-4 but with chip & exhuast you'll be very happy. Not to mention the sticker price is 24,600 for 04's but I got mine for about $19,900 ! Go to your VW dealer and check the GLI. If you can find an '04 you'll get a GREAT deal on them.

I can't tell you how many times a coworker of mine has experienced that, especially with GM. Can you say Pontiac GTO. Basically a Grand Am replacement but with the old Vette engine (350hp). When they first came out a few months ago every dealership around here wanted 5k over sticker "because it's such a hot car". Now since people have test drove them and the newness is gone NOBODY IS BUYING THEM! The local dealer here has had the same 10 GTO's on the lot forever with no buyers in sight. Now GM is offering huge rebates and dealerships are totally slashing the prices to try to get people to buy them.
If you're looking for a sleeper of a car it fits the bill with all the discounts and volume out there it wouldn't be too hard to work a deal in the mid 20's. Not bad for a Vette class engine.
Typical GM sales crap though. It doesn't make any sense to me why for the few extra bucks you can make up front by screwing the customer end up turning away droves of people who actually would have considered the deal at a more reasonable price (something below MSRP would be nice GM!)
