How much are the springs?
How much should installation cost?
What would happen if you keep the factory shocks?

It is not mandatory to change the shocks when you upgrade the springs but, the springs will cause your shocks to wear faster. Also in most cases, the high performance springs have higher rates the OE springs so they tend to over power the OE shocks and create a little bit of a bouncy feeling. That is why most people recommend replacing the shocks at the same time with a suitable performance shock

so if it was okay to use Eibach springs on last year's SPORT shocks, shouldn't it be okay to use Eibach springs on this year's stock shocks?

I have the sports package on my '02 1.8t and am definitely thinking about getting the sport springs sold thru Audi. I haven't shopped around, but $325 for them doesn't seem too bad, plus I'll get that marked down when I go thru my sales guy to get it done.
I figure the sports suspension would be able to sufficiently handle the springs... any input that says otherwise? (taking into account Luke's post at the same time)

These springs where OE on the European A4's with the sport suspension. For some reason the US cars with the sport suspension came with "softer" springs. Therefore, people would by the Euro/Eibach springs for their US cars. I doubt these springs will fit the 02' A4.
This begs the question that I have been pondering for awhile now. Do the Euro and US 2002 A4's with the sport suspensions have different springs as well?

You won't wear out the shock any faster because of the increased spring rate.
Even if you do, it's covered by warranty. However, if you go by way of aftermarket, you may have suspension warranty issues.
