Default also is it possible to recieve a radio signal for a radio station further away....

i reside in the uk, and i am after a few radio stations......the only bummer is that i cant pick up the signals of the stations on a normal radio where i live....is it possible to alter the radio settings so that it just may be possible to pick the signal up in someway.......i remember trying to alter the settings in some way or another a while back...and i remember seeing the word "local" displayed on the lcd of the stereo deck.....however in the middle of the process i was disturbed, and i gave up....any ideas...anyone...much appreciated...

Default Um... I doubt XM radio is offered in Europe yet.

XM radio uses two satellites over the U.S. I don't think they are accessible at all on other continents.

How do trees, buildings and overpasses effect XM radio? My roomate said he couldn't get direct TV because of a tree blocking the signal across the street. I've thought about XM, but if the flow of the music is constantly interruputed everytime something comes between me and satellite, I wouldn't want it.

Default In major cities, it's dual-broadcasted - terrestrial and satellite...

This is the case in Philadelphia, so when my friend got it, we were placing the antenna inside the wheel well of the car, inside the trunk, etc. and still getting perfect reception, because it just used the terrestrial signal (i.e. transmitter towers) instead of the satellite signal.
He did say that the reception cut out with the antenna inside the trunk when he drove far from the city, but we've never heard it interrupted otherwise when going under anything. It's a different frequency range than satellite TV, so it may be able to pass through objects more easily? *shrug*
