I work with a 150W Xe lamp in my lab, and that's at the very upper edge of power dissipation for it to be convectively cooled; any more power and fans need to be used... That's why I think a 55W system as on our cars should probably still be convectively cooled as opposed to being completely sealed.

What if there's a leak elsewhere and some water leaks in while driving in the rain...then it can't get out b/c you've sealed off the easiest exit.

I posted on AZ about this (your reference in your post here) and my dealer said a service bulletin had been issued about this a while ago and that the condensation should go away after 5-10 minutes of having the lights on.
He also said that this arised from earlier A6's with Xenons buring their turn signals due to the heat build up. Haven't had time to research most of this but I plan to.
