AM Poll: ever put uni-directional tire on the "wrong" side?
If so, what happens?
As a result of yesterday's flat I needed to test out the cr@ppy jack supplied by AOA. Luckily I had made it to the parking garage and had just enough level space to use the doggone thing.
Lug nuts were so tight I needed to jump on the wrench to get them off.
The spare, while full-sized - which is a plus - was a right side spare. My flat was right side as well so no issue, but what would have happened if the flat had been left side? I know the wheel/tire combo would have been enough to get me home, but I can't get to a tire place until the weekend.
Anyone have this problem? Anyone run tires "wrong side" for more than a day?

ATTN: Audi. Having an expensive directional tire as a spare is a waste, should be a cheap Conti CH95
I actually have both back Potenzas running against the indicated direction. There is so little tread left, it almost does not matter. I put them on that way due to a rotation/wear issue. I like to keep my tires that have the most tread on the right (ditch) side. Puddles are deeper, more road hazzards plus the crown of the road makes it lower. Anyway, you will have no problems, just fix it soon. My problem is much deeper and more profound -nothing can help me.

Correct - only problem would have been if there was lots of rain. But then that would
of only been an issue for the one tire out of three. And using the spare should have limited your speed.

there was a big debate about this on the b5 or the s4 forum a while back. most people concluded
that it wasn't that big of a deal, especially in dry conditions.
seems like someone even posted some test results where they ran the tires backwards and the overall performance difference were neglegible.
certainly not a long term solution, but not going to hurt you in the short term

had my wheels and tires shipped to dealer so they could be fitted once the car arrived from being
shipped. To make a long story short I noticed that they had failed to notice that my tires where directional. Too bad i didn't notice until I had put over 300 miles on the car!!! All I noticed that the tread noise was extremely high. So I went to the closest discout tire where I had to pay 30 bucks to have the wheels put on properly. I returned the car to the dealer and explained to the service manager how my 2 day old car had hydroplaned and crashed into a wall due to this problem. He almost **** before I told him I was joking. But I did demand that they pay me my 30 bucks to discount tire back, which they did via check 2 months later!!!

yeah
******** at carx did on my wifes car... Insisted that they had them on correctly. One side was right, the other backwards.
By the time I found out, the tires were visibly more worn/cupped on the backward side...
No concern for an emergency situation, but not a good idea long term...
