AMS SS question about position...can this damage tranny?
if the shaft is swayed to one side or another (say it fits my liking and whatnot) and it engages all gears...can that mess up the tranny in any way?
I find that if it's sided a little more to the left, it's better for me...but if it can mess up the tranny in any way, i'll put it back to the way it was before (more neutral).
Thanks guys

haha...nah, I love it. Just trying to get it to a comfortable position. Still seems 5th gear pos...
is all the way over to the right.
Most have suggested adjustments take a while to get it to your liking.
But so far lovin' it, even if it's not exactly to me liking yet =)

an adjustment tip....
I went through the same thing you did when I installed mine. Try this;
1: loosen both 6mm hex bolts slightly
2: adjust the top bolt (the one that determines the position of the shifting mechanism) all the way back, that will center the shifter. Remember that the stock shift lever had a bend to the back, positioning the lever further back than the AMS can. retighten this bolt only.
2: after tightening the top bolt, adjust the lever so that it sits slightly forward and to the right (1:30 position if it were a clock). retighten and test it out. that should do the trick for you. Just remember not to put it too far forward, or you will be off again. That should clean up the shifting and recenter everything for you!

im in the same boat buddy...
Ive been trying to get it to my liking a couple times already....
mine was a little to the right, so i moved it, now itsa little to the left, but hard to engage 1st/2nd...
i managed to strip the top allen bolt, and it was a bitch to get a new one...home depot didnt have it, local nut and bolt warehouse didnt have it, luckily a local VW tuner had it
Im gonna try and get it to my liking later today when i put locktite on my sways... man, if i ever need to install a SS again, it will take like two seconds!

damn right...after putting it in once, another will be simple :) What setting...
do you have it at? The A Hole or the C Hole? I'm at the C Hole but I may set it to the A Hole to see what the difference is...
