AMU head on B6

AMU head on B6
hey guys. i’ve done a ton of looking around and i can’t seem to find a definitive answer. timing belt slipped and took the intake valves with it. intake valve carved out some of the cylinder head. just curious if a head out of a audi tt 225 engine code AMU will fit my AMB engine code.

I am pretty sure the AMB head will swap to a AMU. I got a spare AMU and didnt find anything that would preclude swap to AMB block, both have the same smaller intake ports, combi valve port for SAI. AMU did not come with variable valve timing but the VVT from the AMB can be swapped over. The AMU engine had a slight lower compression ratio (9.0 :1 vs 9.3:1) for the higher 225hp turbo boost level but I am not sure if that was achieved via the head chamber or different pistons? In either case, the compression ratio drop is fairly minimal and even if the head chamber is larger it should still run fine on a AMB block.

Thank you for the reply @grayjay ! I went ahead and purchased the AMU head and it appears to be nearly identical. I went ahead and got the head resurfaced and cleaned up. I will be using the valves that came with the AMU head as they are in pretty good condition and seem to be holding compression just fine. So, i’m going to swap in my old cams, chain tensioner, vvt, and lifters from my AMB head. Would anyone say it is preferable for me to also swap in my old valve springs and keepers from my AMB or am I covering my bases enough by keeping the lifters and cams together?
also, does anyone have any insight on why or how only my intake valves got damaged? the exhaust valves on my old head look perfect. just wanna make sure i’m not missing anything before i get it all put back together.
Thanks for any info, it’s greatly appreciated!
