Was changing my tire yesterday, and after hearing all the horror stories I was incredibly careful.
Got the car up, easy as pie. Unscrewed the bolts, and chuckled to my friend about how this audi drivers must be idiots if they cant do this simple proceedure. My friend has two hands on the wheel, about to remove it from car when when the car starts to sag, he drops the tire. Jack Goes flying, car falls onto the wheel. Damaged wheel and who knows what else.
E-Brake is on, HARD. Car is on flat asphalt. Jack is perfectly placed perpendicular to the road AND the jack point. The "U" of the jack is placed on the point perfectly. Jack fails.
I picked up the jack from the asphalt to see the U had bent. Apparently that part gave out allowing the car to fall. Not quite sure exactly what happened tho. However, one thing I know is that I used the jack correctly, and it STILL gave out, and I am calling RSA from now on.
Complaint has been made with AOA, they are in discussions to have dealer inspect and upon verifying it is the jack that is faulty, replace my wheel, jack and any damage to vehicle.
Scary stuff!

I'm curious to see why these jacks keep dropping cars. Are they slipping out from under, or is there something on the jack that is actually failing? If you have a picture handy, I'd really like to see what the jack looks like after the drop.
Sorry about the damage- hopefully AoA will take care of it.
Cheers

Unfortunatly, the thing is too big to just keep in the trunk day to day, unless vacationing where I make room for it.
So, the stock jack is with me on the road for emergency use only if I can't get hold of AAA.

had a case with audi for 3 months, they finally said they would not replace the broken jack and they would not fix the damage. After I had a dealer look at the jack and agree it was not right, audi still said it was my error in how I used the jack. good luck, let me know if they work with you.
