another gas question. ok so obviously impurities in gas are bad, but what are the negative effects..

of sulfer in gasoline. Also i noticed at Hess they have a sign saying "contains 10% ethanol". whats ethanol and what is its purpose?

If there is sulfur in the gasoline, then the sulfur could mix with the air mixture. Think the more stable form would be H2SO4 (Sulfuric Acid) if you mix those elements. You can imagine what that would do the metallic engine.
Outside of that, I also assume that with all the impurities, there would be a lot of deposit on the injectors, headers and what not. So basically things that don't get burned away cleanly and over time they would just clog up everything. I think that it also messes up with the fuel pump and gas filter?
But don't quote me on any of this... anyone else have a more scientific answer?
