Default Any guestimates/numbers on the weight of the 1.8T 6MT?

I'm looking at the specs, and thinking about the weight increase. With the 3.0, the manual is 44Lbs less than the Tiptronic (Audi spec). The 1.8T, 144Lbs less. So, it seems as though we can expect about a 100Lb increase in weight for the new 1.8T.

So, I'm guessing the '04 will spec out at 3506Lbs.

Anyone hear of a number from Audi yet?

Mike

Not necessarily... The 3.0 probably gets a larger clutch than the 1.8T, etc. so it could be less

Default Plus, won't the 1.8T get the "new generation" manual?

Do we know if it's lighter or heavier? Knowing Audi, "new" is synonymous with heavier...

Yeah, it's supposed to be the new LM (Longitudal Manual) gearbox, completely different from the 3.0

Default Ah yeah, that's right. Hopefully, the 3.0 will get that new tranny soon as well...

From what I read, they were transitioning in the new generation across the model line up.

What are the benefits to the LM gearbox?

Default More precise shifting, no more vibration through the shifter, shorter throws (I think)...

If you've read any of the reviews on the S4, they all rave about the new shifter in it. The LM trannies should all share the same improvements.

Just what I was about to say. The 6-speed in the current 3.0 isn't all that great from what I heard
