Default Any help for the '02 BOSE system, not happy?

Now I'm just looking for nice normal volume sound. I find the BOSE to lack about everything..clarity, highs, lows, depth, dynamics, etc. Sounds like I have cotton in my ears. The sound is just flat, blended together. My '97 A4 BOSE was terrific it was crisp with impact!

I tweaked all the settings but they don't do much to improve the music quality. I have faded more towards the rear, but that didn't so much. Bass seems noexistent...the sub seems wothless!

Add new front components and a 10" JLW3 sub and of course an amp..

Default Wow, so basically the Bose is a waste of money. How much does it cost to upgrade all of the

components?

Default Just do the front set running off of the same amp as the sub and leave

the rear set running off of the head unit. you can get a decent set of components for around $250 and the sub will probably be around $300 with box. As far as the amp i'd say around $300-$400 for a somewhat decent one. It all depends on what you feel comfortable spending..

BTW, you would also need a line level converter and line driver..

Default I hear what you are telling to change components...I can't believe that this OEM BOSE is that bad!

I think a $30 BOOM Box would sound better! Could there be some thing wrong with my system? Has anyone heard differences in diffferent '02 A4's?

Since may original post I've been in my car the last few hours with different superbly recorded CD's including Stereophile's test CD and there just doesn't seem to be much hope!

Default You could always have the dealership service check it out

but if you really like to listen to music and want it to sound really good than Bose is not gonna do it..

Default The main problem is that all vocals sound as if in a empty hall (slight reverb)

hard to discribe properly. I guess I need to take a few discs to the dealer and hear them on a few other cars.

I already tried +2 or +3 fader to the back, but sill this hollow effect with vocals, no depth!
