It follows this kinda pattern, its on both front wheels and seems to be much fainter on the rear wheels.

I wish Id turned the wheel and taken a full shot, but this should give a clear picture.

front wheels worse, I just noticed slight feathering on the rears
its been happening since the car was new, I noticed very slight feathering and its developed as the miles grew... only 6700 miles over 16 months remember.

ahh.. boobies... that I understand!
but I have no idea what could cause this kind of wear. I could only think wheels that are unbalanced and driven like that for a long time, but then you would have surely felt it on your steering wheel. weird...

Thats the thing, there isnt any perceptable pull
it doesnt vibrate or move left and right, but its only done ~6700 miles.
As for post below, I thought about cupping, but isnt that kinda straight wear across the tread surface... not diagonal?
The way I see it, the tyre looks unbalanced and moves slowly across from left to right and doesnt stay perfectly vertical... then it moves quickly back and again slowly moves across... this repeating several times per revolution leading to the wear strips... its on both front wheels though so it could just be one wheel hitting a pot hole if both do it?

hmm...weird
cant be worn joints at this stage in its life, its been developing for a while too.
perhaps the tyres wernt balanced properly... but both front tyres...and the rears doing it too now?
if the tyres not balanced left to right, maybe it wobbles in a distinct way causing that wear..... :ASDF Asd blargh.

Doc, I think it's flat spotting. I have Michelins as well...
I have the same pattern, more in the front. I think it's due to the heat generated while driving then the tire sitting compressed for a while melts the groves together at the contact patch. I dunno it's just a theory, but I have it too.
