The biggest problem is always the trunk lock mechanism and thats tough to stop.

Line the back of the lisence plate will sound deadening material and if you are real keen then remove the trunk liners and apply the same material (dynamat or the like) to the entire trunk.

Get some self-tapping sheet metal screws to tie stuff together. Shims work too.
