anyone else have to periodically add a little power steering fluid?

Default Check you fluid regularly, I had to replace my steering rack and pump due to a leak.....
if you fluid keeps disappearing, have the dealer check the whole steering system. It can be as easy as the power steering return hose (it clogs up and the fluid drips on the front belly pan so you do not see anything on the ground), or it can be the pump and rack.

Default yep, I do check it regularly. it doesn't disappear that quickly, but enough that it's noticeable
every couple of months

If only a little every couple of months, then you should be okay....just keep an eye on it.

What type of fluid to use? Is Audi dealer the only place to get it?

Mineral oil type and as I know dealer is the only place to get it

yep. VW dealers should have it as well. It was $9 at my local dealer for a small bottle.

I got a bottle from the dealer free after mentioning the disappearance of the fluid.
