Just got off the phone w/ a local installer and they told me that they were hesistant to apply clear bra to my front end because it was repaired and not factory paint.
The potential issue seems to be that the clear bra--when repositioned or removed--could tear the clear coat off the body panel. Anyone familiar with this? TIA!

1. paint fades
2. the clearbra gets discolored
3. wax/polish buildup between paint and clearbra
but all this is in regards to the factory paint and not necessarily other paint

i mean..plenty of paint shops can provide as good if not better than factory paint job. I wouldnt be worried then. But if its was a maacos paint job, then id be afraid to even wash it lol.

that's well regarded by the local Audi guys. Even my parts manager took his car there.
Maybe it'll be fine, but I was just surprised at how cautious the saleperson was over the phone.

When waxing, you just need to be a bit more careful along the edges of the film, and even then you can use a soft toothbrush to get it out.
My clear bra hasn't discolored at all, but I can only speak of 3M film. You can take a look in my PP--I still have film on my hood in the before/after front bumper repair shots.

You need to make sure you spray both the paint and the adhesive side of the 3M film with enough of 1-part rubbing alcohol/3-part water solution. It will not peel off the clear coat.
I got my wife's car Clear Bra'd two weeks ago by the biggest dealer in the East Coast whose been doing this since the inception of clear bras. He confirmed the same when I asked him about the clear bra for my aftermarket front bumper when I do it.
Good luck.

I was a bit puzzled when they told me all this, but this puts my mind at ease.
How's the wife liking the T5? I hope this new 'clean slate' hasn't halved your mod budget ;^)
