I checked my oil level and it seemed fine. Then restarted the car and the warning was gone. Could it be b/c I parked on an incline for an hour?

Default Depending on the amount of oil pressure lost due to bearing wear, in proportion to the ....

oil pressure loss due to sludge restricted flow to the oil pump pickup, if any, your observation is a predicable result. Because, after the engine sits for a while after shut down, the oil viscosity increases, as the oil cools, thus the oil pressure developed when the engine is restarted, is considerably higher than it was before the engine was shut down.

3.0L? You may get away with changing the pressure sensor.

Default yes yes yes yes yes ..... been waiting for someone else to get the same problem

well sort of.

Had it for the last 50-60K.

Might be what I have ---- although Diagnosticator1 knows a lot lot lot more than me.

Mine comes on. I used to stop, switch off, check the oil - which was ok - get back in and it would be gone. A couple of Audi garages looked at it but none of the local dealerships ever impressed me so no surprise they failed to find the fault.

However, I've now discovered that simply by opening and closing the bonnet, ok ok HOOD (which is a stupid name for a bonnet) clears the light.

I'm told there's a sensor somewhere that needs replacing but the car has ran fine for the last 50K so it can wait.

Sounds good to me. No 3.0 here, so I was going off of memory.

Well hopefully he has the "low oil LEVEL" and not "low oil PRESSURE"
