Default Anyone put their key fob through the wash?

Mine got left in my pants pocket and out through a washer cycle. I tried it out and the remote seems to be dead. I've got it in a baggie full of white rice to try and pull the moisture out of the remote. Any other tips or ideas?

Default if there is any chance it will work again it will probably need to be cleaned

as in removing the corrosion.

Default Battery out, leave open for a day on a warm place...

No direct sun light though, if you have a computer duster (the air presurized can to clean keyboards) use it to take as most water out as you can, let it dry, and don't try to use it. If it's still wet you might cause a short and fry the circuit board.

Default The best rule of thumb for wet electronics is to DRY it before you TRY. It's tempting to just ...

try something out after it's been soaked, but that'll probably when the circuit actually gets fried. Usually, it's okay to get electronics wet if you don't power it - in fact, we wash circuit boards in a dishwasher all the time at work. The key is to make sure it's dry before powering it up.

In the case of the remote, it's got a battery in it, so may fry as soon as it's wet, but there's a chance that it'll be okay since the curcuit's open when you're not pressing a button. Just make sure it's dry when you finally do press the button.
