Default 10K higher MSRP is about 175 more a month for 5 years.
that is a lot to a lot of people. Probably the reason people end up doing a turbo upgrade instead. Most of the people (kids) here dont' have parents/or themselves that have an extra 175 laying around everymonth to afford the s4, and still mod. But with a "simple" turbo kit, they can boost the HP with a "one time" cost.

Default it would also be 350 a month+. the difference between
an a4 1.8t and an s4.

Default and modding, and being more unique and a sleeper car
adn lower insurance. Nothing wrong with an S for sure, but everyone has different preferences.
