Default My perfect car

Would be an all-wheel drive BMW 5 series, with an A4 interior and a Small block chevy powering it. It would have audi quattro and a 6speed bmw manual. It would be Black with ebony leather.

For me and most people that buy german cars, its about performance and styling. Hell I'd take this car without a radio.. Could you imagine what a 450 HP small-block chevy would sound like in a car that has almost zero road noise???

Default Horace Greeley said it best...

"The general public is one immense ***". We drive with these poeple everyday and know it is true. If the buying public wants this ****; they are idiots. Accident re-routing and wood steering wheels are not the kind of things I look for in my cars. Maybe I should be glad that I am older and won't live to see the total demise of interesting automobiles. NEVER FOLLOW!!!

Default I guess building a better car doesn't count for much anymore...

I fear for the day when the option to exclude all of these fancy technological features goes away. I have no use for high-tech crap in my car. I think Navigation is an unnecessary frill that people make way too big of a deal over. It's obvious that the writer of this article doesn't agree with me, and that's fine, but since when did the features of a car become the measure of the car itself?

<shrugs>

Default I disagree re: their main market, this market is their largest opportunity for gain...

...or loss. Could they survive without doing well in the US??

Default Drive dynamics is what I enjoy in a car. I've no use for navigation in my current lifestyle.

I don't even care for the auto climate control in the A4. I'm perfectly happy turning on my own lights (which the A4 does allow me to do), setting my own temp conditions (an OFF button would have been nice), and choosing my gear changes (for good or bad).

Default good point but...

obsolete doesn't mean "non-functioning" or "non-functional". there's always some "upgrade" coming within 6 months...

crank-operated meat-grinders are still functional but obsolete.

Default Re: good point but...

The definition of the word obsolete is: no longer in use or no longer useful.

I don't think my NAV system fits that definition.
