Default audi service policy change.. ?

So, I'm reading Motor Trend this month and they say they are adding the A3 to their long term test fleet..

They slip into the end of the story that after the 2007 model year that Audi WONT be offering free scheduled maintence... at least not for 4/50

what are they thinking?

does anyone know details?

obviously, we're all covered but if I ever want to buy another Audi, this doesnt make me want to (as much)

thoughts?

Default well if you don't "want to buy another Audi" bc of this, what will you choose? BMW & Merc are

also discontinuing this program for their brands. There is talk of the Japanese marques following suit very soon too. This is not an Audi exclusive - this is an industry policy change.

Default Audi has already started with the cut backs...

in the grand scheme of things this is a sad move, but it really isn't "that" much money. You still have a warranty you just pay for oil changes you could do on your own anyway

Default I will buy another Audi regardless. Enjoying Audi ownership is primary, free maint? Meh.

I know that was the deciding criteria for some new- to-Audi owners.

Default MB has already dropped their maintenance program since '05 models. But haven't heard of BMW

following suit yet...

Default i think the "free maintenance" is a gimmick, but I won't buy another new Audi for other reasons...

like the fact that I can't get loaner vehicles and I don't like how Audi constantly changes its policy on warranty-related items. The "free maintenance" is basically an oil change anyway...now do some tune-up and other maintenance, and maybe it's worth something!

Default Dumb.. Premium brand needs premium service.

BMW is the benchmark, and they offer it right?

After the nightmare that is the quality of my Touareg, I never want to be without a good warranty on a VAG product again!

Warranty and free maintenance are different things.
