Default Audi touch up paint gave my car zits: any remedy?

I'm usually pretty good at touch ups. But doing my first on an audi, I just gave my car a few zits: One thin coat (using the wooden toothpick trick) of paint and one of clear still left touch up "mounds." I admit, the chips were shallow, and the touch up paint was too thick. I shouldn't have used the coat of clear. Would have been perfect without the clear.

Anyone know how to smooth out the bumps?

Just read this text on the carcareonline site, maybe there is hope:

13. The touchup paint has been applied to the surface and allowed to dry for at least 1 week, and resembles a minute mound ( __o__ ) (this is exaggerated) on the flat plane of the existing paint. The object is to remove the mound and make the surface of the paint one continuous flat plane. The Finesse Block offers the ability to gently remove only the high spot of the repair. Unlike sandpaper or polish on a rag, the five usable sides of the block are flat and act like a "wood plane" to remove only the elevated areas of the repair. The 2000 grit will not leave scratches.

Anyone have experience with this technique, or another way to mounds

http://www.carcareonline.com/viewarticle.aspx?art=8</a

Your best bet is to wet sand like carcareonline says. Good luck.

Default Noxema? Ugh, I just use a black marker for touch-up on most colours.

I think you gotta thin out that lumpy dried-out Audi paint so it flows into scratches and lies flat.

Default Go to Eastwood.com....

They have a whole section on chips, drips and touch up repair tools. I've always had good luck with Eastwood tools.
