Default audio question (bass)

which Hz tone is best for 10" subs? i ran 65hz, 75hz, and then a 110hz run in a db comp saturday and only hit a 138.6db. i played that song "yea" by usher at the show before that and hit a 140.2db off the stock bose head! there has got to be a section of hz levels fit for optimum levels from 10's. im running 2 JL AUDIO 10" W7's and a JL 1000/1 with a single F cap.

Default It depends on what your fronts are crossed over at as well as the slope of the crossover.

I would say that for a 10" a crossover of 75-85hz would be preferred, but don't get hung up on the numbers, just adjust it until it sounds the best for you.

Default It matters a lot::

What kind of enclosure you put your babies in.
You have to make sure that your subs are built to spec.

You have to make sure you have adequate venting and pressure capsulation for your sound box. For sedans, i would cut out a huge hole at the top of the rear deck behind the rear seats, to let the air vent to the front.

If you are playing the subs with your trunk open, you will have destroyed your subwoofers.

if you have an avant, this problem is not aparent, just make sure all your doors are closed, except for one. This acoustic venting is key to increase volume and efficiency, as well as saving the life of your audio equipment.

if you have any questions, email me.

Default i took out the sub in the rear deck for a port to the cab

my w7's are in jl spec sealed enclosures, and id have to be an idiot to bump with an open trunk i just ordered a sun auto voltage stabilizer, and over the winter will upgrade the cap to a battery. with the stock head unit, im hitting good numbers, but its kind of a drag that im not fully utilizing the potential of the w7's.
