audio service bulletin
I brought my car into service a couple weeks ago for a 30K checkup, and they mentioned that there was a service bulletin regarding the front left speaker cutting out. I thought this was great, considering my front left speaker has cut out ever since I got the car (drives me freakin crazy).
Anyway, they supposedly fixed the problem, which seemed to be gone at first, but returned within a few days, and is back to being bad as always (if you don't know, the front left speaker cuts out at low volumes, which really takes away from the sound).
Question is, does anyone know what the definitive fix for the problem is (i.e. what the bulletin says)? As with other Audi-related things, I'm going to take the problem into my own hands instead of letting the dealer fuss with it again (2nd time now).

Here's the TSB on what fixed mine...

there is another TSB 91-04-12 that says the cutting out is caused by the speaker terminals
touching bare metal and shorting out....
"Front midrange door speakers (-R26- & -R27-) and Rear midrange door speakers (-R34- & -R35-) may intermittently stop working due to speaker electrical contact touching crossbar of window. Condition may also be perceived as a crackling."
The fix is to put felt tape on the metal so that the terminals can't touch metal.

now *that* is interesting...
I didn't mention it, but the left rear speaker also seems to be crackling a bit but not cutting out, so it sounds to me like I have both of those problems. Looks like I'll have to pull the door trim off both doors and try that fix out to see if it goes away... Isn't it interesting that I would rather perform fixes like this myself than bring my car to a dealer, who ought to be fixing this the first time (or couple times) under warranty?
