Default Auto trans strenght.

Has anyone actually had their auto fail with more than 230lbs/tq?
I am having a hard time believing that the auto can't handle more
than 230lb/tq. Is the auto in the A4 diffrent than the A6?
I have always herd people complain about autos not standing up to
torque but it usaually comes from people driving sticks. All my cars
have been autos with extra trans cooler and syntetic fluid. Never
had one fail yet even with 100lbs more torque over stock.

230 lbs is only th max rating for the CVT, not max rating on conventional Tiptronic trannys in A4's.

Default 230 lbs-ft IS the max for the tip. One reputable tuner blew a tip tranny on a test car by going over

that limit.

Default Wow!..guess I was under the wrong impression

I thought that was the thing that needed the biggest improvment on the CVT. Guess its the most needed improvement needed for the auto tranny's.

Default That's a close call

So luckily the 3.0 has EXACTLY the maximum torque for the tranny. Seems a bit fishy to me.

My guess is that the 3.0 has been de-tuned to meet the max torque requirement of the transmission.
