Default automatic door locking

I had my car in the shop - some work to be done.

I had a rental 2005 Matrix xR. I was bored, and was reading through the manual, and I found a way to program the door locks in the Matrix, so when the car is put into park, the doors unlock, and when it's taken out of park they lock.

Is there a way to do this on my car? I have a 2004 A4 1.8T Quattro Automatic.

Please let me know...

my original thread is at: http://www.audiforums.com/m_334985/tm.htm

Someone there suggested getting a vag com - but I'm wondering if anyone has done this before.

You can program the CLU to lock that doors at 12 MPH and unlock when you pull the key out.

how? is there a way to do it without hooking a computer up to the car?

ie. put the key in, hit the door lock, roll down the window, take the key out, and jump counter-clockwise in a circle 5 times? :-)

Default Check Ross-Tech.com for more info

The short answer is that you need VAG-COM to add 32 to your Central Convenience controller coding.<ul><li><a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/audiB6.html">Click here and read section 46 - Central Convenience</a></li></ul>

Default Pretty much everything you can recode is described in the link I provided.

AFAIK, the radio will display whatever RDS/RDBS info the station transmits, including station id, genre, artist name and song title.

Default nah you gotta borrow a vagcom or spend $25 on one.

dont be a cheapskate man.

You should enable fogs only (2002)
Enable automatic locking/unlock
Enable keyfob windows up/down

that kind of deal

To have this feature enabled, you either need to use a VAG-COM, or have the dealer to do it for you.

Default did you do yours?

Mrkrad,

did you program your own? Do you know what codes to do or whatnot?

I've been looking at: http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/audiB6.html

I might buy my own, but there's someone locally that has one so I'm hoping that I can borrow his for an hour or something. I've never done anything like this, so I have no idea how to work the program or whatnot.

I downloaded the vag-com release 607 and have it installed on my computer... but that doesn't help because I have to test the connection with the car, and I don't have the USB connection cable. (Yes, it's installed on a laptop).

I'm not sure if this guy has a laptop and would be willing to do it for me or not. Guess I'll see.
