Default Exactly... Like jkappe1 said, trip computer 2 will keep it over multiple trips and be more (more)

accurate for, say, average MPG over a whole tank of gas.

Default Re: It's on 1...hmmm never thought of that...my 2001 didn't have two...I'll try switching it to 2

yeah, mine changes a lot when i first get in the car, and then after you have some miles in your trip, it'll level out. i haven't reset trip 2 since i bought the car - 2 months, 5500 miles - so it still shows the data for the life of the car. mixture of city/highway driving and i've averaged 21.4 mpg... not too bad i don't think.

Default Weeellllll. I'm not saying you are stupid, but you never know who is on the other side of the

internet;-) It's like when a car dies. You check gas first.

It depends on what you're looking for...both are actual average, just over different time frames.

Default Yes. It may be limited to like 9999 miles or a certain number of driving hours, but otherwise,(more)

trip #2 won't reset unless you reset it manually, or if the battery or instrument cluster are disconnected or die at some point.

Our dealership usually set things to trip #2 automatically.
