In that VW overestimated its brand equity by developing the Phaeton which has been a failure. His comments were in Automotive News last week or this week, and I wondered if saying something like that would get him in hot water with someone. It appears it has, disguised as him "leaving," like he had a choice.

Sometimes admitting the truth gets you fired, but he was spot on with the Phaeton.

its too bad the vw name pulls down sales. vw is still stuck in hippie mode i think. but that car is one amazing vehicle

Nobody will pay that much for a VW. I think a good % of people buying the large Euro sedan really want the name recognation of MB & BWM.

Plus I don't understand why VW and Audi are working against each other. I know initially they said the VW would be the luxury arm and Audi the sport, but then VW starts coming out with Luxury and Sport??

The Phaeton looks cool, except for the extra JUMBO VW badge they decided to stick on the front and rear. Too much!!
