B5 2.8 5-speed (DJP, DJR, DWM) into a B6 1.8T
As the time draws closer for needing a new clutch on my '02Q 5-speed (FPT), I'm thinking more seriously about just swapping in a whole gearbox from a B5 2.8, to get some gearing with longer legs. From my research, the donor would need to be '97 - '01 2.8Q, which would mean code DJP, DJR, or DWM.
Two questions basically...
1) Am I going to run into any issues replacing a F-series gearbox with a D-series one? Any sensors added perhaps on the later gearbox that don't exist on the earlier one?
2) Any differences of any significance between the three B5 boxes that would cause one to be a preference over the other? The DWM is the later one, so by default I'd prefer that, but not sure if there's really a difference to care about from a practical standpoint.
Lastly, I found one reference (posted by S4master1 – (Euro Tech Motors) that indicates that the DWR gearbox was put behind the early '99 2.8, but car-part.com indicates it was found behind the 1.8. Anyone know for sure?
Appreciate any input...

Swaps right in. Go with the later year if you can. The 2.8 5 speed will make the car feel slightly slower because of the taller gears, but helps if you do plenty of fwy driving.
DWR = 1.8t 5 speed. It is what came stock in my 2000 1.8t and what I have always bought when I needed another one.

Any suggestions on any gaskets/seals that should be pro-actively replaced on the "new" gearbox before installation?
Thanks for the confirmation on the DWR being a 1.8T gearbox.
