60K for the 1.8T is the general AW consensus.

Default no, that's the consensus of former B5 owners

75-85k. there's no data whatsoever to support changing at 60k

Default 60K but i saw a failure at 100K with 60K timing belt/tensioner/pump

So ymmv. I'm probably going to do mine at 110-120K miles since i did mine at 80K miles.

I had extended warranty that covered failure to 85K miles on timing belt and other things. Ie water pump blows up, chews timing belt, all is covered.

its about 5K to repair timing belt damage at a dealer. i've seen this on a passat 1.8T. 5 valves into each piston. the imprints were cool
until the pistons were popped out and crumbled apart.

I've actually seen pistons survive valve smash (all) and continue to run. That just has to screw up the combustion chamber geometry. The 1.8T runs extremely dangerous (chipped) so the efficiency of the combustion chamber is EXTREMELY important.

Chipped most cars run 14:1 to 15:1 on the stock k03 at peak torque. Tell any other car tuner that and they will laff their asses off. I stick to 12.5:1 tuning anything imo. But i guess the great 20V head and combustion chamber permits it without detonation.. makes me uncomfortable.

Default you think? The belt ages the same, and has to spin more weight?

I can imagine the cost of the 3.0 is alot more than the 1.8T to fix!
