Default B7 Quattro Suspension on B6 FWD

I'm looking at buying a B6 A4 FWD but it is right at 100k mi and needs new suspension. I was looking around and found sport suspension for a B7 Quattro for cheap and was wondering if that would work?

I know they're mostly the same cars underneath so it should, but what kind of effect would it have on the ride? And would it sit as low as the B6 stock sport suspension?

Don't know about the suspension, but I would do some research on A4's with that tranny. FWD = CVT = bad reputation for failing anywhere around 75K miles. Not sure whether it is a justified reputation or not.

FWD Automatic = CVT, but they still come in a FWD Manual.

They come in CVT manual stateside? That is news to me, but you could be correct. I certainly never claimed to be all knowing.

Quess will let spikky tell us a) where he is and b) if he has a manual.

The FWD B6 A4 1.8t came in either a CVT automatic or a Manual 5 speed transmission. The 3.0 FWD came in a CVT.

Learn something new everyday. Now back to spikky's question. Are the B7 Quattro and B6 FWD suspensions the same? My 2 cents to start the conversation: looking at wikipedia (I know, this can be suspect), it says " chassis derived from the outgoing B6, but enjoyed heavily revised steering settings, suspension geometry, new internal combustion engine ranges, navigation systems and chassis electronics (including a new advanced Bosch ESP 8.0 Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) system)." That would tell me NO.

Easy way to figure that out is to look at suspension part listings for both cars and see if they are the same part numbers.

It looks like the B6 1.8t and B7 2.0t quattro cars use the same H&R coilovers, but the B7 FWD coilovers are a different part number vs the quattro cars. But that could just be the difference in spring rate. On the KW parts list it just shows B6 2002-2007 which actually covers both B6/B7.
