Hey guys, my quattro has a bad axle but my mechanic cant tell which one it is. He said he would be guessing. It is getting progressively worse and I need it fixed. Are there any tips to telling which axle it might be or are these cars known for having a certain one go bad?

Hey i have the 3.0 quattro and i think my axle or axles might be bad but ppl think it might be something else, how could your mechanic tell? How did the car feel when it drove?

Noise or looseness is about the only way. What are your symptoms?

The car shakes (feels a lot like a out of balance wheel a lot of times) at certain speeds and basically when under a steady load. If its an axle you can hear it "pop" when you turn if its bad enough. I sometimes hear it but not often.
