Default Bank 2 Misfire

I had my water pump blow and replaced. After the car was returned I have a flashing CEL. The shop wont take the car back as they say it was "working fine when we gave it to you..."

Car: 2002 A4 3.0 V6 Quattro.

So I have misfires on Cyls. 3, 4, and 5. The car flashes the CEL only when at low to mid throttle position between 1500 and 3000 rpm. If I use WOT the cel will quit flashing (stay solid). anly codes are the P0304-P0306. Is there some sensor or vacuum tube that would be disconnected during a timing job that the shop maybe didn't re-connect. I checked the plugs and coils and they are all good.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Will

Is your engine code AVK? If so. they are recall on ignition coil.

Turned out that my base timing was off and had to take it to Audi again to diagnose! Apparently timing on the 3.0 is beyond most non-Audi garages!

Yeah, I've seen a lot of 3.0 owners with similar problems from non-VAG shops after a timing belt change. Did you take this info back to the shop that did the work?

Bottom line, 3.0 owners beware...

Interesting, I just changed the timing belt myself with all the right tools and thought I was very careful with the procedure. I know the cams didn't move and everything lined up as it should have.....How do you check or reset the base timing??

Thanks Bern

If you used all the right tools and are sure the cams didn't move and you are not getting any codes or noise, then you probably did well. What I was referring to was beware of shops not familiar with the Audi. I have a Nissan 3.0 V6 that I have changed 4 times with no special tools, but it does not have variable valve timing, DOHCs, high compression, etc, etc which makes the Audi more difficult to work on. I just wish Audi would go to chains...
