Buy oil & large oil filter at AUTOHAUSAZ.COM (cheap & oem). then take to a vw mechanic.

Default The 1.8T does require synthetic...

if you want to keep your engine warranty... Audi extended the engine warranty on the 1.8T's to 8 yrs, but that is contingent on using synthetic oil (and the larger filter, too, I presume). This was in response to an increasing number of sludge-related complaints.

I'm at 115k on my 2002, and finally got sick of paying $70-80 to have the oil changed. I did it myself and payed $40-45 in materials. Borrowed some equipment from a friend to get the job done, but it wasn't hard. Just a bit messy...
