im planning a road trip this weekend and just realized ive never changed the battery nor did audi service ever comment on battery life.

mines a 02 but i picked it up in the fall of 01 so its about 6.5 yrs old.

anyone change their battery yet?? (after how many years or mileage?)

I'm at 5+ yrs on my original as well, but others have replaced theirs well before then also

I live in northern Ontario and in the winter, the car sees -40F regularly, and I'm still running the original battery.

The OEM one gave out about 6 months ago.

it can depend on the climate you live in...it gets really hot and humid here, which takes a toll on batteries. on all the cars i've owned, they typically only last 4 years or so.

My died at ~50k...but I attribute the early demise to the stereo/amp drain.

I have '04, my battery just suddenly died last week, had it replaced under warranty.

Same for my '05. My '01 battery is orginal, but getting tired

15 pounds lighter than stock.
Hold down bolt was a pain to R&R but fits fine to hold the Optima.
Old battery was fine one day and DOA the next.
After replacing I have noticed things are seeming to work just a bit better - Auto dim mirror, windows, starting and even performance seems better.
