Default Battery problems...

OK, here's the scenario. I purchased a 2001 A4 1.8T in October 2004 at 37K miles. About 2 weeks ago the battery died completely and was unable to be recharged. Eventhough I am now into the Audi Assured warranty, I felt that I should have been compensated for the battery because I have only owned the car for a year, and McGrath Audi claimed that they had put a brand new battery in the car a week before I purchased it. Plus the car only has 42K miles on it a year later. Well after going back and forth with Audi corporate, they informed me that the lack of miles was the problem. They claim the battery was sulfated because the car doesn't seem to have been driven for long periods of time. Thats a lie because I drive my car every day, I just don't drive far. I drive to the train station daily which is about 5 minutes from home. Other than that, I primarily drive longer distances on weekends. Has anyone else ever heard of this? Am I over reacting? That sounds nuts that a battery can die because the car has not been driven enough.

Default might want to ask in the B5 forum...but also your climate could kill the battery too

in AZ batteries only last about a year due to the heat
