Default best tire psi for a4 3.0 quattro.

i have the 16s for my 3.0. what psi should i run the tires? they are michelin pilot hx.

when i brought it home from the dealer...it was funning 37 all around. seems a bit high.

i've heard that the recommended stock psi is 32. if that's true...why did the dealer have it at 37?

let me know your opinions. just looking for a psi that's both comfortable and performs well.

in my past cars...i usually went 2 over the recommended stock psi.

Default keep them between 34 and 36.. 3.0 is a slightly heavier engine so keep em around 35

should provide a similar effect for the 34 weve got on our 2.0 engined car (non quattro..)

although just put to 35 yesterday.

Default The Michelin HX MXM4 ties are a very bouncy tire....34-35 keeps them more comfortable.

A change to a different tire will improve the ride quality of the 3.0. These tires were on another family member's Subaru GT and the same harshness was there, Michelin took them back and replaced them with MXV4 Pluses, not bad at all for ride comfort, noise, and handling...yes there are tradeoffs. I notice these same MXV4 tires as factory standard on BMW's so they should be decent. Bottom line is I believe the MXM4s do an injustice to the ride quality of the A4!

Default Re: The Michelin HX MXM4 ties are a very bouncy tire....34-35 keeps them more comfortable.

these were the tires that came on my 2003 a4 3.0. the salesman was willing to trade the hx for p6000...but he didn't recommend it.

i've also read that the p6000 aren't very good and get noisy pretty fast.

would you recommend another tire to maximize the ride quality of the a4?

i live in northern nj...so snow and ice becomes a factor in the winters. although it has been minimal in the past couple of winters.

Default

The Dunlop SP Sport A2 or Michelin MXV4 Plus with more ride/noise comfort over handling.

just curious...are the michelin hx tires bouncy because they are better performing than the dunlop sp sport a2 and michelin mxv4 plus?

or are they just not very good tires?

Default I owned all models of Michelins and the MXM4 just act harsh and bouncy for a touring tire.

I know of people who own the Dunlop SP Sport A2 and love them good ride comfort, handling, low noise, good in snow....read the reviews of this tire at tirerack.com.
