assuming you want the 1.8T, i'd say go with a 2002 unless you want a 6sp then try 2005

Well I mean still, I would rather get an 04 or 05 for less miles....also wasn't there some changes done w/ the engine? Coilpack wise/reliability stuff that made it more durable? I also like the 6 speed and painted lowers that were offered in later years. =)

one thing i remember is that the 2004-2005 have the bigger oil filter, thanks to the known oil sludge problem with some A4's.

now I have had my 02 1.8T for almost a year. Bought it with 39,000 miles on it and have had no problems with it. Definitely like the way it looks....as for the engine. I miss my 2.8 a little. Taking off just seems to lack power compared to my old one. I do plan on putting a chip on it when my warranty runs out. Seems like every thing I read says after you install a chip, that it is how it should come from the factory. Over-all...I love the look over the old model and the handling is better as well, just wish it had a little more power. I did drive a new 2.0T and thought the power on it was where I would like mine to be.
